Dolid
Christopher Willits lends a delicate touch to his debut, FOLDING, AND THE TEA, as the opening track, "Or With the Tea" goes from phased guitar strums to glitchy warmth. Indeed, the start-stop compositional style will continue for the remainder of the album, though, as with "Lichen" and , it embraces a more bucolic, sunny feel. The longer "Filtered Light" floats quietly along, like a leaf down a stream, and "Free Singing Strawberries For Children" has a lazy jauntiness. There's a similarity to these tracks that makes them almost indistinguishable from one another, and while it adds consistency to the album as a whole, it also means that the songs tend to fade into the background, "Poa' and "Dopa" have slightly more poignancy, and "Pentagonal" engages with the electronics more. "Re Trace" and "Makes Shadows The Shape Of Half Moons" get more jittery, But "The Weight Of Your Body On Top Of Me Makes Me Feel Like I'm Floating And Sinking" ends the album on a near-romantic note. Even though these tracks quickly become overfamliar, sometimes it's nice just to let them unfold.
