how does this black press sound?people is complaining about transparent yellow version sounding like crap....
My copy (black) sounds too crackly and that's a pity (distorted noise in louder parts)
My black copy sounds wonderful. No issues here. Sad to hear the yellow is not so great.
they probably pressed 5,000 of these and are going to sell them in small batches just to get high prices out of suckers
What's the source for quatities of yellow vinyl ?
You are so wrong, I picked mine up for £16.99 from my local record shop - brand new unopened! Sometimes being a bit positive helps you discover the gems out there. Oh, yeah I got the yellow vinyl version too which is limited to 500 copies.
Anyone still looking for a copy, it is now available on Amoeba.com (as of 02/12/2017) for $28. Free US shipping. EDIT: Looks like it is gone now, but the translucent yellow (ltd to 1000) was still available on Pebble today, too.
Gold Crown
Awesome, will definitely hang onto it then, thanks so much.
First pressing, black vinyl, the insert says "Edition 2/500 copies" (meaning the second Prescription pressing, 250 copies in the US and 250 UK).
By the way, are the copies we picked up the first pressing on black vinyl or the second of translucent yellow? Bull moose just emailed me that the order I placed two months ago is being filled with the yellow version on its way to me and I haven't actually opened my Amoeba copy so if it happens to also be the yellow I'm gonna take it back for credit, thanks for any help on this.
Yup, one copy of it there and it was me who got it! I also picked up the CD + Artbook version of Spiral Insana which I hadn't even heard about and just noticed while browsing the NWW section. I saw the vinyl copies of it they had on display but it was a bit out of my price range so opted for the aforementioned format.
Haha, small world. I got mine at Amoeba Hollywood this afternoon. It was one of two copies there when I grabbed it, so you must have got yours right after that. Went after seeing that they finally had the NWW Spiral Insana reissue listed online, and just happened to check for this after looking since December and giving up on it.
Funnily enough I was just at Amoeba Hollywood and found the one copy they had there. I had called them at the end of December several times during the week this was supposed to be released and they said they didn't think they were getting it in due to the extremely limited quantity of copies being pressed. I also had it pre-ordered from Bullmoose who never received it and so had given up on trying to get one at all several weeks ago and just happened upon it while browsing there today. Looks like the one on their website is already gone, wonder if it happened to be the one I snagged that was automatically removed from there upon my purchase.
So I missed the first repress of 500 and I just received a black vinyl repress of Astral Disaster today from Pebble that was supposed to be part of the second run of 250 but it says "Edition 2/500 copies". Did they increase the second run to 500 so there are 1000 black copies of the 2016 reissue in total, or did I somehow get part of the 500 copy first run of the repress?Ironically I also received the black/silver Spiral Insana today as well.
Also, just checked online and noticed that there is now a translucent yellow version limited to 1000 copies, UK only.
I might be wrong, but I believe "edition 2" means the second Prescription pressing, of which 500 total copies were pressed on black vinyl (250 for the UK and 250 US). Just picked up my copy in the US today at Amoeba, along with the Spiral Insana reissue.
The same for me, missed the first repress and have just received a black vinyl "Edition 2/500 copies".
Just listened to the copy I purchased here, having given up on pre-orders, from a seller in France. I remember that the CD I've listened to all these years was not identical to the original Prescription release, duplicated here, but it is quite different. Less electronic ambience, kicking right off with the sea priestess and a bluesy sitar is the most prominent instrument. I didnt' realize that I'd now have two very different (I wouldn't call the differences slight) manifestations of Astral Disaster. At the moment, I prefer the version I'm familiar with, but having had this for one day, I don't want to leap into and get stuck on any conclusions for some time to come. Besides, here's A, and here's B, and why even play the comparison and which is better game. This is off topic here, but I received it on the same day, and all of these people were friends... I also got the new double album release of Spiral Insana by Nurse with Wound. It sounds spectacular. It's like hearing it for the first time, and I'm almost sure there are changes, but maybe it's really true that one hears more on vinyl. It was number 454 (I thinK of the limited 500 release with silver and black vinyl. Most Delicious and dated not one bit.
Pebble Records is a reliable source for this and they just shipped me a black one for $36. DDD cancelled my order at $25 due to no available stock.
Word is there is a coloured vinyl pressing coming - 1000++ copies
Any sign of the second pressing that was to hit the street on December 30th?
I contacted Lion Productions and received this answer: "yes, we are releasing it, together with Prescription label in the UK; i do believe that the first pressing is already pre-sold, but who is getting copies is tough to pin down. We don't sell directly to Amazon or B&N... but Light in the Attic are getting copies (and others). In order to satisfy demand, we've already started working on a second pressing, on a different color vinyl, don't have the details yet."Hope that helps somewhat, not many details... and who knows if some of those copies that went to Light in the Attic will be distributed to Amazon or other outlets with pre-orders.
I was lucky too.Got my copy from Norman Records. Now it's out of stock everywhere..This is a bit different release than cd - version. (LOCI CD14).. forexample The Sea Priestess is totally different. But still one of my favorite Coil albums.
The number of people who bought it just to sell it back for profit just disgust me. Capitalists pigs.
I have pops throughout A3 and again towards the end on A4...the rest plays perfectly.
Haha, £150 ?? Some discogs sellers are like the Foxtons of the record shop world.
Best West
14 listings right now and no one is buying. Last Sold: Never
Is there a US pressing of this coming in addition to the ltd 250 UK repress in January? I see that DDD has this for pre-order and the label listed is "Lion Productions" which is a US record label.(Limited Edition, Reissue)Artist: Coil Format: LP Release Date:12/30/2016ARTIST: CoilLABEL: Lion ProductionsUPC: 778578990817ITEM #: 1768792XGENRE: RockRELEASE DATE: 12/30/2016
Amazon is usually really good at tracking down pre-order stuff. They have a lot of resources at their disposal.
I see this on pre-order status for a 12/30 release on several US websites: Amazon, Deepdiscount, even Target ha...any opinion on what the best source would be?
Good info and makes sense. Lion Productions has released several Gary Ramon/Color Tapes-related reissues over the past couple of years.
I contacted Lion Productions who told me the 250 press is a joint release between a UK label and Lion productions in USA. I was also told it looks like it won't be available until the end of January.
I think there is no US pressing.I heard it is 500 pressing which is sold out and then it will be second pressing of 250.Worldwide - no US or UK.
was very lucky to grab mine from juno. i am pretty sure that moreof them will be pressed in future, otherwise it makes no sense at all. anyone asking more than 40 for this should burn in deepest pits of hell.
So it's limited to 500 but a US seller says limited 250. Does that mean 250 for UK/Europe released on Dec 2nd and 250 for US released on Dec 30, 2016? The US distributors say Dec 30th is the release date.
First repress of 500 is sold out, and another press of 250 will come up on January.
Would not mind having The Mothership And The Fatherland on vinyl but fuck off with these prices.
Price is $37 shipped to US from Pebble. If there are only 250 more to be pressed is there any other reliable way to get one cheaper? $37 is a lot to pay for a new LP in an edition of 750 (and possibly more to be pressed?) by a relatively obscure band. I'm frankly surprised the demand is so high.
You could still order the January batch of 250 here https://pebblerecords.co.uk/product/coil-astral-disaster-prescription-edition-prescription-lp/
I see two one-star reviews. Would either care to elaborate? Are these out in the wild already?
Yes, it was released Dec 2nd in UK. However there appears to be another release coming. Every US seller has it as preorder and available Dec 30th.
Do not feed the flippers extorting for your money. Buying it and trying to sell it 5 times the price. Despicable. Cheaper copies will come. Just wait.
I would not pre-order anything from Music Direct, they frequently are not able to fulfill the order. I pre-ordered the Sun Ra 7" boxset from them and they never got it.
I would say Music Direct have 0% chance of actually receiving any copies..
It doesn't release in USA until Dec 30th so that's why it's not in stock. Pre-order here for $21.70http://www.deepdiscount.com/goog/778578990817?utm_source=GoogleShopping&utm_medium=CSE&utm_campaign=productSearch&gclid=CjwKEAiA94nCBRDxismumrL83icSJAAeeETQ73ax5M30txcQVvF9y1SaqPmY6mg8UzuzmQT_oGT6thoCCPLw_wcB
https://www.musicdirect.com/vinyl/Coil-Astral-Disaster-(Limited-Edition-Vinyl-LP) you can order in this link. but you pay much shipping/tax
where did you order it ? searched but only found pre-orders and "out-of-stock"s.
Cheaper copies are already here. I just ordered one for $21.70 + shipping/tax. Search online.
