K. D. Smith - Conjunction flac

As one would expect from Kay D. Smith, this is yet another competent soundtrack to depict the apocalypse. Banging techno which goes with anything uptempo, crisp, linear and harsh. Yup, mix it up with virtually any other on Construct Rhythm, projects like Stigmata or collaborations between Smith and Alex Katz, and there is no way you can go wrong.
The title track is my favorite here, though not that different from Synapsentserben. Obscenely rugged drum kicks and a rusty sequence screaming with all might for minutes. Nothing for the feeble hearted klick klack party crowd who think Len Faki and Villalobos re-invented the wheel.
B1 is cool, the percussion is even faster, though not as emphasized. What (slightly) bothers me is this german vocal used in the track. It may be due to my lack of understanding german, and I'm quite sure that if and when dropped during a party, the crowd must go absolutely ape shit at around the three minute mark - yelling in german plus this sinister, distorted hook is dropped just before the slamming percussion is introduced again. It is the type of music which most probably sounds four times better during a party than it does in my room.
Tongueflüster, B2, is like Schumacher's vehicle on steroids. Pushing, onmarching drum rolls just orchestrate a rhythm torture as though a self controlled machete was on a mission to cut an entire rain forest to shreds in a matter of minutes. Holy cow, this is intense, VERY intense, just as the rest of this EP.
My verdict? Well, it isn't really everyone's cup of tea, but then again, you really wouldn't be the most intelligent music lover around if you bought this not knowing what you were getting into beforehand. For the rest of us, this is a safe purchase, like just about any other Smith release on CR. Not classic or really anthemic, but it'll wreck any decent party.
